Repairs Complete on Hangar Damaged by Windstorm
City workmen finished temporary repairs at the municipal airport hangar after a windstorm shifted its roof but did not topple it. Plane owners removed aircraft by lifting hangar doors, then crews repaired the pole type structure.

Eight Die As Propane Blast Rips Quebec Home
An explosion of a propane gas tank leveled a two family house in Asbestos Quebec killing eight people including two mothers and six children. Police searched the wreckage through the night and reported three children injured with one twin in critical condition.

Schneider Rites At Sharon Hill Sunday

Charges Linger Over Brighton Area Passing Crash
Charges of improper passing were filed against Janet Marie Moss after a two car collision on highway 1 about 12 miles north of Brighton. Moss pulled out to pass Roy William Edwards of Brighton, causing a near head on and a sideswipe with Benjamin Richard Peppers of Ottumwa. Moss’s car was a total loss. Peppers’ 1962 model sustained about $625 in damage. No serious injuries reported.

Prairie Flower School of Special Education hosted about 45 students at Sunset Park on Friday for an end-of-year picnic. The group arrived by school bus at 10 30 in perfect weather and played 12 hours on park facilities before lunch at noon and another half hour of activities.
