DES MOINES IOWA May 25 UP Ideal weather for more than a week has enabled Iowa farmers to practically complete corn planting and most stands are nearly perfect the Week Crop and Weather Bulletin said today in one of its most optimistic reports since the bumper year of 1946 The bulletin said farmers planted over 5 5 million acres of corn and more than 1 million acres of soybeans last week All crops benefited from the conditions but surface moisture is low in western Iowa and many areas need rain to sustain progress About 89 percent of the corn crop had been planted by the first Saturday and 64 percent last year on the same date Soybean acreage planted reached about 40 percent by Saturday.

Two Injured In Stolen Car Crash West Of Washington
