Two Pedestrians Die in Separate Des Moines Accidents
In Des Moines on Tuesday afternoon a 3 year old boy, Norman Curl, was run over by a Des Moines Transit curb liner at a street intersection while crossing with his brother and a green light. Separately, 18 year old Benny Milton Copple, a highway worker, died when his three wheeled motorcycle was struck by a truck carrying fertilizer on Interstate 35 near the Des Moines river bridge.

17 Men Perish In Globemaster Crash In Washington
A Globemaster crashed shortly after takeoff from McChord Field near Tacoma Washington. At least 17 men were killed with 16 dying instantly and one later at Madigan General Hospital. Four others were in critical condition. The aircraft carried seven crew and 15 Army personnel returning from an exercise. The plane belonged to the 63rd Troop Carrier Wing based at Donaldson AFB.
