London May 23 The United Press reported that the British cabinet has determined to break relations with Soviet Russia unless their decision changes before Parliament meets. A faction favored breaking trade ties but retaining diplomatic relations and was outvoted.
County Chairman J Reade McCrory reports the Red Cross relief fund at 3050 with a 250 check added this afternoon to St Louis headquarters. Riverside contributions total 185 50 and Washington county adds 78 50, pushing county total to 3128 50. Further benefits may raise the fund to 3200, eight times the county quota.

A burglar climbed to the fifth floor of the Washington National bank building and entered Dr. T. J. Pease's office stealing about 74 dollars worth of dental gold meant for crowns. Two local dentists reported similar thefts, suggesting a single offender or accomplice. The thief left little trace and disturbed no other items, indicating careful familiarity with the office. Gold from dentists often enters the jewelry trade.
Mrs. Robert C. Amlong died of apoplexy at home in Lexington at age 63. Funeral services were held at Lexington Methodist Church with Rev. P. B. Gray officiating. The senior class play The Copperhead by Augustus Thomas opens Tuesday and runs Wednesday in the high school auditorium. Seat sales began briskly Saturday at Phillips & Hebner drug store, with many golden seats claimed while better locations remain available for late purchasers.
Col Francesco de Pinedo began the final leg of his four continent flight from Trepassey Newfoundland at 2 08 a m ET toward the Azores. He shed 460 pounds from the craft before departure leaving no radio link for the 1800 mile Atlantic crossing. Later reports confirm he passed over LT Johns Newfoundland at 3 12 a m ET en route to the Azores.

Spencer MecCrave a thirteen year old youth was returned to Fairfield to answer charges of stealing a Ford sedan Sunday. He drove the car through mud to Pleasant Plain then rode a train to Washington. He sought shelter at the city jail and claimed he only borrowed the car for a ride.
A Chandler car driven by Bil Smith and a Chevrolet with Charles Thomas as drivers collided at the southwest corner of the square this morning. Neither driver sustained serious injuries, though the Thomas car appears worse for wear despite not being sidelined.
Captain Charles A. Lindbergh received the Legion of Honor at the Elysee Palace with President Doumergue and Ambassador Herrick present. He told reporters he could fly back but will return by steamer, likely from Cherbourg May 31, as crowds cheer his achievements and Paris debates future travel.
Washington Ys Men returning from the district convention in Ottumwa endured a nine hour sixty mile trip after their car was stuck two hours in a mud hole that had been planked. Delegation leaders include Russel Jennings and Richard McCleery with Layton Smith elected district governor and Richard McAleery named lieutenant governor. Lester Schneider of Milwaukee, international president, was a principal speaker at the convention.
The St Louis flying club confirms the full $25,000 prize for Charles Lindbergh’s victory will go to him without division among backers. Harry H. Knight, president, says backers are satisfied to aid the accomplishment. St Louis supporters provided most money for the New York to Paris flight.
