Government Ships to be Sold for Scrapping Plan
Washington May 20 A subcommittee of the shipping board on scrapping tentatively agrees to sell 260 government vessels for scrapping. The panel led by Chairman O Connor and Commissioners Trummer and Benson favors scrapping 160 of 300 Holle lake type ships and may add other vessel types. It seeks a recommendation from the fleet corporation and will withhold final board approval until that report arrives. Henry Ford is expected to bid among offers when bids open.
