Kennedy Iowa swing targets national delegates

Des Moines coverage portrays Kennedy’s Iowa stop as a bid to convert state convention delegates to national delegates. The crowd, 2500 strong, was a mature, middle class cross-section, with Kennedy handling questions well and stressing farm policy while noting farmer penalties. Organizing strength appears solid, with Humphrey closing the gap. Kennedy projects a strong Iowa farm power image and broad appeal beyond teen activists.
