Ramblings on Iowa history and local leaders in three counties
The piece muses on the State Historical Society of Iowa bulletin with local angles from Henry Jefferson and Washington counties. It recalls hotels in Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield, names hotels after prominent men, and notes U S senators and congressmen from nearby counties, including Brookhart, Wilson, Henn, and Newbold. Memorial Day history is also briefly mentioned as decorating soldiers’ graves.
