Two men robbed Steve Myraides, operator of a Waterloo restaurant, of 240 dollars shortly before noon as he returned from a bank and drove into a garage adjoining the eatery. Myraides was ordered to lie down while the bandits took his car keys and fled. Only two dollars remained in the canvas sack. Police say the robbery appeared carefully planned.

County Wool Pool Plans May 19 20
The Washington County Sheep and Wool Growers association with secretary Glen Dunbar announced a two day county wool pool on Monday and Tuesday May 19 and 20. Local cooperation with the Iowa group will have wool shipped to Des Moines for grading and cash advances based on grade. Best wool advances at 25 cents per pound. prior year 20 cents with final settlement up to 88 cents. Pool costs prorated among participants. Farmers with good wool have typically earned more through the pool than state market prices. Wool can be brought to H E K Finney feed store south of Barclay's in Washington 8 AM to 4 PM May 19 or 20. Association officers will manage the collection.

Kenneth Palmer Wins Junior High Marbles Title in 1941
Kenneth Palmer, seventh grade, defeated Wayne Brown in a 3-2 final to become the 1941 Washington Junior High marbles champion. Brown, last year’s seventh grade champ, reached the final by beating Louis Spenser. Palmer beat Rod Anderson to reach the final. Ninety-two players from both grades competed in eliminations begun Monday, with semis and final held this afternoon in front of all junior high students. The annual event, now 15 years old, was started and maintained by Guy Carlton of the school faculty.
