The Charleston has been ordered to depart from San Francisco to join Dewey’s squad for a rescue mission, carrying ammunition and provisions. The move follows military directives to support the Asiatic Squadron in the ongoing Philippine campaign.

Des Moines Iowa May 11 at 4 p m the writer cannot yet provide a list of boys who failed to pass the examination. Last night about twenty were not OK but not rejected and are expected to pass. Three were rejected.
Washington May 10 After extended debate a resolution to amend the United States constitution changing the start of congressional and presidential terms from May 4 to March 4 was adopted. The proposed amendment sets the terms for the President Vice President Senators and Representatives to end on March 4 and begin again the following noon.
In a brief session County Clerk Young issued two marriage licenses, aligning with the limited calendar of the short congressional session as lawmakers attend to appropriations and other urgent matters.
Yesterday afternoon Edna Stark entertained many of her young girl friends at East Main street home for her birthday. Games were played and refreshments served as parents sought to make the day pleasant. Sam Miller, brother of M. P. Rome May 11 The riots are described by police as the premature outbreak of a revolution. 200 veterans arrested in Milan monastery clash as students from Pavia occupy Capuchin premises. troops bombard, monks seized and held. A Milan newspaper confiscated as order is restored. Congress or royal audience in London featured Tacitus Fairchild’s daughter among Americans presented. Kenan of Boyd & Co narrowly escapes flood near Milan Indiana. horse and carriage lost. Major General Sewell to go for a soldier.
The text states that Sewell is appointed to command the concentration camp near Falls Church Virginia signaling the general has decided to accept his military commission and risk his tenure as senator.
Fred Daniels aged 14 and a 15 year old companion threw stones at Mrs. Pray’s home. Daniels drew a knife and threatened to kill her. A witness knocked him down. Mrs. Pray and her daughter Caro then thrashed him with a buggy whip. Daniels was arrested and to be tried today. Mrs. Pray and Caro receive public praise for their actions.
A New York conference this week aims to settle claims against the late Josephus Collett estate. Bequests include 75000 to Rose Polytechnic Institute and 75000 to an Vermillion county orphans home. Lien notes by D J Mackey indorsed by Collett sparked lawsuits delaying apportionment.
Admiral Dewey and his men receive a share of about $187000 for the destruction of the Spanish fleet at Manila. The Norwegian steamer Bratsburg is captured by the gunboat Newport while attempting to run the blockade at Havana.
