Drowns Himself at Brighton After Mental Decline
Brian Ton Iowa May 11 report Drowning at river near Brighton. Man had earlier threatened self harm after stock damaged his corn. Police and residents found him soon after he had left the city seeking the river. In Harper another man Nick Stein shot himself after a morning drive with his father-in-law. He left a wife and ten children. Funeral set for 10 o clock today.

Flour and feed hauler loses shorts sack near town
Walter Haight was hauling flour and feed from the Narrow Gange de pot when a hundred pound sack of shorts fell off halfway up town. He rushed back but the shorts had already walked off or been carried away by someone, leaving no clue.

House Fire Destroys J. M. Johnson Residence North of Town
Fire gutted J. M. Johnson's home with about $25 of goods saved. Insurance valued at $800. Cause unknown. Mrs. Gola Hise and Miss Fannie Jones were en route to West Liberty for Sunday visit. Miss Jones planned to go to Des Moines afterward.
