Mont Pelee eruption obliterates St Pierre area

A Daily Mail dispatch from Pointe a Pitre Guadeloupe reports Mont Pelee erupted yesterday morning for three minutes ejecting molten rocks and ashes and destroying St Pierre and nearby districts within four miles. All inhabitants burned. Eight passengers aboard the Roraims are said lost.

Attempted Train Wrecking at Medora Discovered

Section Foreman Aaron Smith found a metal obstruction wedged in a frog at the Medora junction delaying trains on the Chicago Peoria and St. Louis and Chicago Burlington and Quincy lines. Detectives also identified Hugh Reilly as the shooter in the Duffy stockyards detective killing with a witness presenting a near sighting.

Scranton Pennsylvania May 10 1902 miners in the anthracite region order a general strike for Monday with a delegate convention to decide on permanent action.
