Everson Block lease and May 12 edition move planned

The Evening Journal publishers have leased the Everson Block east of the square to host the May 12 issue at noon to allow moving part of the office that afternoon and evening. Changes for Saturday’s issue should be submitted Friday after noon. The item also notes social events and local notices including a Sketch Club party, a millinery prize, and a dancing gathering.

Strawberry Social Planned by Local Christian Ladies

The Christian church women announce a Strawberry Social in the Christian chapel on Thursday evening May 10. Everyone is invited. Ringling Bros. encountered misfortunes with a storm at Mt Pleasant injuring a Japanese juggler and bruising a lady rider. In Ottumwa a rider fell in the Roman standing race and was trampled by horses.
