Santo Domingo reported quiet as two rival governments jockeyed for power two weeks after a revolution. A new junta led by Maj. Gen. Antonio Imbert Barrera was sworn in promising to save the Dominican people from Communism, while Col. Francisco Caamano Dena heads a rival faction loyal to ex-President Juan Bosch. Marines guard the city as the downtown area remains ringed. Caamano says he will serve Bosch’s term and abolish general ranks.

200th traffic death toll hits Iowa in 1965
Des Moines teenagers Philip Galvan, 16, killed when his car left Town 415 north of Des Moines and struck a pillar on Interstate 80. Frank Schatz, 22, Cedar Rapids, died when his motorcycle hit a utility pole near Anamosa. William Davis, 44, Davenport, died after a U.S. 6 crash. Ruth Davis, 50, died Friday from injuries. The toll for 1965 reaches 200, 33 fewer than last year at this date.
