In Muscatine County a large tank truck from Standard Oil lies submerged in the Cedar River east of Moscow. Howard Wagner of Wilton is presumed dead as workers try to drag the vehicle to shore. the cab is said to be empty.
Mona James, 14, freshman class president at Muscatine High School, and Loen Reed, 17, Fairport junior, have been missing since Sunday afternoon as a search continues in Muscatine.
Dr. Louis P. Rich a Fredericksburg physician died leaving a record of decades of service. He never filed a county indigent patient claim during seven years of practice.
Gen Q T Ashburn and officials of Inland Waterways Corp will stop at Burlington as one of three ports on an inspection tour of the upper Mississippi channel.
Fairfield. Edward J. Ferguson of Toledo pleaded guilty to larceny before District Judge R. W. Smith and was sentenced to five years in the state penitentiary at Fort Madison. Ferguson snatched a purse from Mrs. M. W. Scott in the post office here Monday.

The Des Moines county ministerial association passed a resolution opposing a rapidly spreading gambling craze and urged every pastor to preach next Sunday on the sin of gambling.
State Auditor Charles W. Storms directed county auditors and treasurers in Des Moines and surrounding areas to exclude 40 cent head poll taxes from the 1936 tax lists prepared for collection in 1936. The change affects local tax calculations and county records.

Carl Crossett rescued a toddler about two years old from a moving truck near Wallace school as he returned to work at Klein store. The driver did not see the child until braking too late, but the child was unharmed and walked away toward home after being placed on the sidewalk.

Sandusky Ohio Lyman Boat Co ships a 13 foot rowboat ordered for President Roosevelt to his Hyde Park estate. President Roosevelt will use the craft on the Hudson River. W H Lyman, company president, was advised.
In Evprett Massachusetts Joseph De Lelio has undergone eleven blood transfusions to save his anemic baby son. The father reports no complications from the procedures as the infant passes two months old.
State Auditor C W Storms called on former Fairfield justice of the peace D F Spratt to account for a $432.05 shortage found in Spratt’s receipts. Auditor’s investigator C H Uetz reported the missing funds from fines and rents Spratt should have turned over.
Three fishermen on Spring Creek near Spring, Texas killed a 12 foot long alligator about 22 inches wide and weighing 600 pounds after it had lived in the creek for years.
The American Legion bloc rallies support to override President Roosevelt's expected veto of the Patman inflationary bonus bill. The measure passed the Senate 55 to 33 after House approval, with Legion leaders pledging full support and seeking two billion dollars to fund veterans' bonuses. Administration officials expect a House override, while a Senate override is doubtful. Roosevelt indicated at a press conference he intends to veto without waiting the ten day limit.
Three persons were held in jail today in a vice roundup tied to a grand jury probe of vice conditions in Iowa City. Mayor Thomas Martin testified to the grand jury about vice linked to University of Iowa students after a fraternity house was closed for alleged wholesale immoralities.
