Sheriff Teeter boarded the night train for Trenton Mo armed with a war rant to seize two burglars suspected in Rownd’s store theft at Ainsworth last week. Clothing in their possession links them to the crime and the sheriff expects swift results. The town’s thieves are increasingly unprofitable as arrests follow robberies.
Deputy Black reports Reynolds the burglar pled guilty in Lincoln after transport from Des Moines two weeks earlier. He received four years and six months in Nebraska state prison. Reynolds attempted escape en route and his partner, jailed locally, says they met in Centerville.
In Ollie on Wednesday evening burglars entered the clothing store of L. Hafferty and took a considerable amount of clothing. No suspects or clues have been identified.
Dr. Coxe arrived Saturday morning, met by Mr. Bradshaw, and taken to his home. He preached three or four sermons at Oakland, using Psalm 1 verse 1 and a sermon on being bought with a price. Eight accessions to the church were reported as the meeting ended. He stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Chapman Sunday night and departed Monday morning.
The Secretary Glasgow works hard for a successful meeting and race meet at the Washington County Fair, aiming for an especially fine event.
In Fairfield Iowa on May 7 Charles Johnson and Geo Minear were accidentally killed at Johnsons home while handling a large crucible of molten gold. The metal flowed over them as they fell smothering both men to death. A cast of their features hardened in the molten gold.
The school board met last evening and decided the new building will be a modern four room ward school. Plans are written and will be accepted and the contract let as soon as possible. Location remains a mystery beyond east side.
Iiwin Ferguson visited Ainsworth yesterday and others traveled to the city for business or visiting friends. A mix of guests at Hotel Allen, shopping in Davenport, and local events from graduation planning to Decoration Day preparations filled the day with social and civic activity.
The forecast for Low a shows warm and probably cloudy conditions for tonight and Saturday. Merchants debate a Fourth of July celebration with interest in public parks or fair grounds, but space and setup pose challenges. Public support urges a program that benefits merchants.

The fine horse of J. Hunter of Wellman, stolen the night before, was found in Sigourney yesterday. The thief sold it there for 17.50, then fled. Sheriff Teeter dispatched the description to all Iowa counties, noting the horse could not have left the state.
Democratic ward caucuses to pick delegates to the county convention will be held May 16 at Kellogg's law office on the east side of the square, Saturday night.
Perry Dewey sold a colt nine days old for 70 dollars to A. Leaper, south of town. The colt is to be delivered at five months and is sired by Earl King out of Onslaught.
