St Louis May 6 Thirty two witnesses summoned by Attorney General Crow to testify before Chief Justice Durgess as Missouri investigates the beef trust. Witnesses include representatives from Armour Swift Morris Cudahy and the St Louis Dressed Beef company along with cattle buyers butchers and wholesale dealers from several points in the state. Crow will decide whetherto institute anti trust proceedings against individuals firms or firms based on the testimony.
Two prisoners A. E. Butterfield and Robert Haydon at Fort Sheridan sprang on a guard, disarmed him, tied his hands, and fed him before turning him loose. Sentenced to the guard house for desertion, they escaped with the sentry George Smith in pursuit. The incident sparked a large search by about 100 soldiers.
Danville Illinois May 6 William P Cannon brother of Representative Cannon is dead from injuries after a fall He was president of the See family organization and a noted local figure in Danville authorities said his death followed the accident at his home or nearby premises.
Representative Cannon arrives in Washington to attend a funeral, joining National Bank leaders and the president of the Street Car and Electric Light plant, among prominent Republicans.

Albany May 6 A seven year old inmate of a charitable institution since April 6 is believed to be Margaret Vintin Taylor who disappeared Aug 3 1808. Grandparents in Pembush near Cincinnati admitted knowledge of the child. Indictments for child stealing were issued and Ohio authorities have been notified the child is in Albany. parents live in Mellowne Kentucky.
