Washington UPI The head of ABC denied Dick Clark was allowed a special easy affidavit denying payola. Leonard H. Goldenson said no basis to Alan Freed charge of a double standard as Freed refused to sign any oath. Clark testified two days and said he cleared airline plugs with ABC. Harris urged industry reform to clear up payola rules.

Capture Youths Who Took Deputy's Guns
Two 18 year old teens from Harrisburg Pennsylvania were captured after an all night two state search along the Illinois state line. Ralph H Brubaker and Edward L Klinger surrendered without resistance. They had overpowered Whiteside County Deputy Sheriff Ed Loftus and fled with his guns on the way to a justice of the peace. The youths were being questioned in the Fulton clothing store robbery and were wanted for rape and burglary in Harrisburg.
