Mrs. Mavis Brown was fined five dollars and costs on charges of reckless driving and driving without a license after arraignment before Justice of the Peace E. D. Rayburn yesterday. Stock Handlers Weigh Strike Over In Chicago Yards
CIO stock handlers in Chicago announced plans to meet on Tuesday to consider a wage strike. The movement of animals is supervised by the stockyards and transit company which offered a 31 percent hourly increase, short of the 15 cent hourly demand. Union leader Frank Monaghan of Local 44 said a decision would follow discussions with management, with possible action after another session. Rallies by CIO unions in support of striking packinghouse workers were held nearby.
