Jees Regee and Federal Crop Insurance, the Court House, National Bank of Washington and State Bank, Washington Community Schools, area schools including Waco, and the post office will all close with no deliveries.

Iowa Senate OKs long term deficit financing for universities
The Iowa Senate approved a bill to let the Board of Regents issue bonds for academic and administrative buildings at the three state universities, to be repaid by tuition and fees. Gov. No Major Rejuvenation Planned for City Parks this Spring
Washington city park plans show no major rejuvenation this spring per Park Board chair Don Minick. Projects include Sunset Park’s Astro City ride, evergreen plantings at Sunset entrance, roadway resurfacing, restrooms upgrades, and six new plastic benches at Central Park. Green Field will gain play equipment to serve 30 to 40 nearby families east of Case Field.

Two Guard units to fight floods in Iowa
Two National Guard detachments were ordered into flood duties. Captain Edward Walsh and 12 guardsmen from Company A, 224th Engineer Battalion, Burlington, assisted Burlington with levee upgrades using a bulldozer loader scoop and six dump trucks. A second group of about 20 from Headquarters, 224th Engineer Battalion, Fairfield, to Princeton will build levees for the main street and sewage system, reporting Monday to finish the week.

Bank robber Blue captured by FBI in Chicago stop
Atty Gen John N Mitchell announced the late Friday arrest of George Edward Blue 40 a top FBI 10 most wanted fugitive for an Evansville Indiana bank robbery. FBI Director J Edgar Hoover said he was nabbed at a downtown Chicago bus station along with girlfriend Mary Ann Davis 24 a material witness in a 1966 Indiana bank robbery. Davis had a .38 revolver in her purse at arrest. Blue joined the list on March 20.
