A bomb wounded six at Praga police station and in the carriage of Baron Von Nolken, Warsaw chief of police. The assailant fled after a second bombing near the castle. a plain clothes officer died, a girl was injured, and Nolken's condition is serious but improving.
At the St Louis World's Fair a tall timbered Washington state building collapsed during demolition work. Three men were injured: John Elwood with a gash in the head, Alexander Burns with a broken leg, and Thos Robers with head and face wounds. Demolition had been underway since the month’s start and most timber props had been removed.
In Chicago 9000 carpenters voted to demand pay rises from 50 to 55 cents an hour after April 1. They will seek individual contracts from employers and strikes are likely.
