Hughes for Detailed Tax Study Urges County Focus
Iowa Governor Hughes called for a joint Tax Commission and comptroller study to identify which economic sectors bear the heaviest tax burden and where relief should go. He suggested county by county analysis and warned current omnibus proposals may fail to provide lasting property tax relief. He also pressed for public debate on abolishing the death penalty and cautioned liquor by the drink would likely fail, reporting conflicting feedback on enforcement efforts.
