Hiller Grand Slam Beats Cubs as Giants End Slump
San Francisco second baseman Chuck Hiller, nicknamed Abner, hit a grand slam in the eighth inning off Jack Warner to rally the Giants past the Chicago Cubs 11 6, ending a seven game losing streak. Felipe Alou added two homers while Orlando Cepeda and Willie Mays collected three hits apiece in a 14 hit attack. Moore Dies After Boxing Ring Injury At Dodger Stadium
Moore died about an hour after doctors reported his pulse weakening. His wife Geraldine, in shock, slept nearby as family waited in the lobby and room where he was treated. A review of taped films showed his head struck the lower ringstrand and back to the skull, a major probable cause. doctors said Ramos’ blows may have contributed but would likely not have caused major damage otherwise.
