CIO Heads Violate Policy Threaten Action Against Five
Washington March 25 Up Regional CIO director Ben Henry proposed disciplinary action against five Iowa CIO executive council members for defying the unions national policy by opposing Henry A Wallace for president. The council voted 5 to 3 against a third party, with two members not voting. Henry said the rebels came from packinghouse, farm equipment, and electrical unions. Rams killed in collision north of Ainsworth junction
Herbert Campbell of Washington county reports two purebred rams owned by him were struck and killed by a car driven by Stanley E. Ellingson of Cedar Rapids just before noon yesterday. The accident occurred five and a half miles north of the Ainsworth junction on highway 218. Deputy sheriff Robert Fillmore said the radiator and grill of the car sustained about 150 dollars in damage.

John Squire 91 Dies After Long Illness in Iowa Ohio Roots Noted
John Henry Squire 91 died at 6 15 am at the home of his daughter Mrs Russell Goodin where he had lived. He had been bedfast since a 1945 stroke. Funeral at 2 pm Saturday March 27 at Sherman's with Dr Fred E Miller. burial Elm Grove cemetery. He was born March 17 1857 in Scioto County Ohio, later served as county treasurer in Washington County Iowa and held public office in Cedar and Washington townships. Survivors include son Jacob of Detroit and daughters Mrs Harry Kilgore of Ainsworth and Mrs Grace Like of Hollywood and Mrs Russell Goodin of Washington. Three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A son Charles died October 6 1923.
