Theft at Connelly Hardware Leads to Cash Missing
Washington police investigated the theft of a bank deposit sack from Connelly Hardware on the south side of the square. The sack and checks were recovered, but $100 in cash was missing. the sack had been in the store safe with the door reportedly open. Visiting hours at Washington County jail have been changed to 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays, 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, and 7 to 8 p.m. Fridays.

The Iowa doctor shortage has driven at least 25 towns to spend 3500 each to hire California based NHSO for physician placement. Atlantic Council Bluffs Dubuque Sanborn Lake City Villisca Harla Bayard Avoca Hamburg Tabor Remsen Le Mars were named as seeking aid. NHSO guarantees a physician for the town at least a year or a free re placement with no time limit or money back, while noting most doctors are in large cities and about 70 percent are American born and educated. Only Dubuque has seen an NHSO physician placed in Iowa. Iowa Medical Society disputes NHSO knowledge and Iowa Hospital Association has not endorsed it.
