Buried Miners Rescue Efforts Continue at San Bois Mine
In McCurtain Oklahoma on March 22 rescuers worked to reach seventy five miners trapped two hundred feet below the shaft by a deadly gas and black damp. Twenty five rescued so far with fifty five bodies recovered. Volunteers and government experts aided the effort as gas and dust conditions were assessed. An appeal for aid was issued after a mass meeting.
