Opponents delayed the measure after uncovering a past stabbing incident at a prison hospital. Elkins had killed his father and stepmother eight years earlier at age 11, an act described as revolting in the state history.

Track for the National L A W meet in Indianapolis

Indianapolis reports a new track planned within 2.5 miles of downtown for the August National L A W meet. Hale House Fire Kills Two Missing Twenty in Butte

In Butte Montana the Hale House boarding house burned after 3 AM leaving two dead from jumps and one dying, with twenty missing. About 250 people were inside. 200 escaped. Fire started in the bakery center as Jake Dooley and partners discovered the blaze and alerted residents. Firemen arrived as residents climbed down fire escapes in nightwear.

Prisoners Loot Dedham Safe After Jail Break
