Boy and horse escape after ditch mishap near town

A boy riding toward town from north of the city rolled into a ditch when his horse slipped amid a bank collapse. With help from about ten neighbors the horse was freed. the animal suffered from cold water but survived. The note also covers a temperance program, church services, and local arrivals and departures.

Graham patrons urge Gilbert Opera for Mikado return

Saturday night two drunks paid fines and were dismissed as Graham patrons demand a return of the Gilbert Opera Company. Manager Moore hopes for a new Mikado performance with twenty five top singers to fill a packed house. Harry Cooper of Parson's College Fairfield visited Will and Mrs. Cook over the weekend.

Iowa forecast and obituary of John W Atkinson

The forecast for Iowa calls for generally fair weather tonight and Tuesday with colder temperatures. John W. Atkinson, among the county’s oldest residents, died at his son Chas Atkinson’s home three miles south west of the city at age 90 years and five months. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. Rev W G Thorne of the M BE church will conduct them, with interment in the city cemetery. W Morris, Jeweler announces eye tests and glasses at the store Thursday and Friday March 25 and 26 with no money due.

Dempsey Breaks Leg After Fall Near North Side Parlors

T J Dempsey proprietor of the North Side Billiard Parlors tripped returning home last night and fractured his leg just above the ankle. Doctors Burroughs and Stewart set the bone. the limb had a prior break, making this one more serious. Also noted is Ira Sankey’s new sacred song for the April Ladies Home Journal titled The Beautiful Hills intended for outdoor choral singing at camp and religious gatherings.

Street crews lay new sidewalks to Wallace school area

Street Commissioner Miller and his crew replace walks along East Madison to East Washington, extending two blocks. The project will improve safety and benefit local school children in that city district.

Local resident faints at county treasurer's window

John Davidson aged resident of the county fainted while paying taxes at the county treasurer's office. He recovered after a brief lapse and was taken to his daughter's home for rest. Sheriff Teeter arranged care. he may return home after a day. The report also covers court updates, social visits, a honeymoon return, and local property sale.
