Washington County Junior Fair plans livestock building
The Junior Fair board approves a livestock building at the Washington County Fairgrounds on the west edge of Washington. Walter Bruty will supervise volunteer labor and part of the crew while his workers assist. The 60 by 40 foot building includes an 28 by 8 foot stall area and a 24 by 24 sow ring. Funds were raised by a county wide quiz sale last summer.

Private funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Jones Funeral Home for Leafa Betta McAtlin, who died Thursday in Oskaloosa, Reed in charge. She was a Washington county native born April 5, 1877, daughter of James and Louisa Jarrard McAtlin, educated in local schools and a Methodist. Surviving are two sisters Mrs George Timberman of Davenport and Mrs Mary Mason of Neona, and three brothers Howard McAtlin of Washington, Marcus McAtlin of San Diego, and William De McAtlin of Grand Junction.

Mrs. Rogers died at Stickler Nursing Home in Iowa City after residing there two years. Funeral services are Sunday at 2 30 PM at Kalona Christian Church with burial at Sharon Hill Cemetery. Petersen and Sons Funeral Home in charge. She was born Nettie Longwell November 25 1868 near Wellman and married Mw Vo Rogers February 28 1882. Survivors include two sons Ora and Virgil one granddaughter Mrs Ed Remy of Baton Rouge four brothers Loran Wellman Harry Modesto Lewis Minneapolis Ergon Adel plus one grandson. several siblings preceded her in death.
