A Washington County meeting launches Col. Smith W. Brookhart as a Republican candidate for the U S Senate to succeed Albert B Cummins. The platform centers on opposition to the Cummins railroad bill, farm and labor unity, and Brookhart’s record as a soldier and lawyer supporting farmers and soldiers.
A severe storm, matching this winter’s intensity, besets southern Minnesota, South Dakota, northern Iowa, northern Wisconsin, and southern Wisconsin.
