After a severe weekend storm Iowa begins to recover with sunny skies and below freezing temperatures. A Rock Island passenger train resumed toward Minneapolis as snowplows opened rails. Two fatalities and a train crash were linked to the storm, while highways and air travel gradually return to normal.

James W. Fletcher Dies at Crawfordsville
James W. Fletcher 5 of Crawfordsville died at University Hospital in Iowa City at 12:30 Sunday. He had been ill since the start of the year. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Crawfordsville Methodist Church with Rev. Clare Boos officiating. Burial will follow in Crawfordsville Cemetery. He was born February 9, 1866 in Bureau County Illinois, son of John T. and Catherine Fletcher, and moved to Crawfordsville in 1893 where he farmed and tiling. Survivors include two sisters Grace and Nellie, and three brothers C. E. K. Fletcher of Wapello, F. W. Fletcher, and S. C. Fletcher, both of Crawfordsville.

Iranian Leader Wounded as Oil Nationalization Debate Sparks Attack
In Tehran a member of Gen Ali Razmara's cabinet, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zanganeh education minister, was shot in the side by a student from the Fidaiyan Islam sect during university events. A law student was wounded trying to aid him. Police arrested Nosratollah Ghomi, who claimed Zanganeh was a traitor for opposing the oil nationalization bill.

Truman Ordered RFC Cleanup Last Year
Director C Edward Rowe of the Reconstruction Finance Corp testified that President Truman told him last summer the agency needed to be cleaned up and appointed him to do the job.
