California man kills six then dies in mountain chase
John M. Goins, a Stockton real estate man, killed six people and shot himself as pursuing officers closed in near Eldorado California. The victims included his wife Florence Podesta Goins and three other relatives. Police followed him from Stockton to Eldorado after a spree that began with his wife's divorce filing.

Mrs Curtis Peterson aged 26 died at the county hospital at noon today while giving birth to a boy. The child is reported doing fairly well and there is hope for the infant's survival. Mrs Peterson lived in Washington most of her life and left many friends shocked by the tragedy. Funeral services are expected Sunday with tentative arrangements made.
