Two to three burglars attempted to wreck the Jacob Williams grain elevator office at 406 West Thirty-ninth street Chicago sending a blast that wrecked the interior. A trail of blood and clothing scraps marked their escape routes while nitroglycerin and primed battery wire were found at the scene. Train crew heard the explosion as investigators questioned a frightened watchman. Police reported a dramatic attempt to loot the elevator office and the case remains under investigation.
