GM Strike Ends As UAW It Ends After 113 Days
General Motors reaches a settlement with the CIO United Auto Workers to end the 113 day strike. Benteco Store Reinstates Dale Fuhr as Manager
Dale Fuhr will resume duties as manager of the Benteco store March 25 after returning from military service. He spent two weeks at the local store to reacquaint with managerial tasks. Fuhr has managed Benteco stores since 1935 and was last in Washington in 1937. Earl Okerstrom, interim manager since October, remains with Bennerlea Co. but awaits future assignment.

Charles W. Stewart 79 died at the county hospital after two years of illness and 16 months bedfast. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p m at L A Jones funeral home with burial in Elm Grove cemetery. He lived four miles north of West Chester and was a farmer known for Suffolk horses and Galloway cattle. He was a Methodist. Surviving: wife two daughters Marie and Mrs LaVera Knapp one sister Mrs R G Cherry and three grandchildren Ella Rose deceased.

Iowa figures released from Des Moines show Washington county surpassed its war bond quotas with 12,897,976 in sales. The county achieved 8,746,734 during drives and 4,151,242 between drives, far exceeding quotas and nearly doubling the target.
