In Cedar township a special election defeated the rural school consolidation by 29 votes amid poor turnout and bad roads. Total ballots 110 with 9 yes and 68 no, three spoiled. fear of tax increases cited as the main factor.
The Board met February 2 1920 with Morgan Parrow and Dayton present. Minutes approved. Regular claims listed including American Surety Co premium 125.06 and many county staff expenses. Adjourned to February 3 1920. Adjourned again to February 12 1920 for continued claims. A filing sought authority for Iowa Gas & Electric Co to use roads for twenty years. notice and March 1 1920 hearing set. Fred J. Kolesick allowed 200 yearly. School loan of 2200 approved. Bond for Joseph C. Purvis approved. County Home Steward report approved. Adjourned to February 15 1920.
