Des Moines reports lawmakers set district judges salaries at $5,004 annually, up from prior pay. The house initially rejected a senate amendment to raise to 5,009, then reconsidered and passed the bill in its original form.
President Hoover announced a strict conservation policy for national oil resources. There will be no leases or disposal of government oil land during his administration except those deemed mandatory. McDaniel of the Washington board of education were elected and Claude Peker to succeed J A Porter as a member at the annual school meeting held yesterday. There was no opposition. Fifty nine votes were cast with Danieli 67 and Tucker 58. One spoiled ballot included two extra names. De F Masson received 0 votes. The board will organize at the first meeting after the election next Monday evening.
In the Y M C A indoor series the Schoolmasters beat the Y M C A Y's Men club 18 to 6 while the Rotary club defeated Square. Eight innings were needed to settle the Rotary Square game as Crul and Rice sparked the Rotary win. Both Rotary and Schoolmasters sit tied for first with two wins and two losses as they prepare to meet next week.
