Funeral services for Marion R. Wells 73 victim of an auto accident south of Keota on highway 92 will be held at 2 p m Friday March 11 at Jones funeral home with Rev. Arthur Peters and Rev. E L Haney officiating burial in Elm Grove cemetery Wells a retired farmer died Wednesday afternoon He was born July 21 1881 in Washington county married Margaret B Johnson June 21 1910 Survivors include his daughter Mrs Don Sheetz of Washington one brother Roy Wells of Washington and two grandchildren He died en route to Washington hospital after collision with a cattle truck Andy Augustine a passenger escaped injury The truck driver Roy Laverne Smead of Albia reported the car swerved toward an oncoming truck The car hit the dual wheels on the trailer and the left side was demolished S C Williams a truck passenger also escaped injury

Ryan Man Charged In Service Station Theft

Robert Schaffer 26 of Ryan was charged with robbery with aggravated now in the 11 dollar holdup at a Ryan filling station Monday night. A man wearing a handkerchief over his face entered the Adrian Locke station, brandished a .22 caliber pistol, and demanded cash, prompting Schaffer’s arrest after the incident.

Mrs. J. F. Simpson Dies at U. P. Home

Mrs. J. F. Simpson, longtime Washington resident, died this afternoon at the United Presbyterian Home where she had lived. She was over 90 years old. The body was taken to Sherman’s funeral home with funeral arrangements not yet determined at press time.
