Long Beach Earthquake Shocks City No Damage Reported

A strong quake struck Long Beach California last night shaking homes and rattling windows. Residents fled in fear but officials said downtown remained unaware of the event and there was no reported damage.

W D Milligan Dies at Guthrie Center

W D Milligan prominent attorney at Guthrie Center died at his home yesterday afternoon from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was sixty six, a 1891 University of Iowa Law School graduate, in practice since 1891. Funeral services set for Sunday at the Guthrie Center home. wife and two daughters Jessica and Aileen survive.

Daughters of 1812 elect Mrs Speer historian at Des Moines

Mrs. A. Speer of Washington was unanimously elected historian of the Daughters of 1812 at a Iowa state meeting in Des Moines. She previously served as auditor and resigns to take the post after praise for genealogical work and cemetery locating with the adjutant general of Iowa.
