Two Burlington Children Die After House Fire
In Kingston a Burlington arms plant worker Edward Scott and his 7 year old sister Lola perished from burns hours after a fire destroyed the two story frame home. Five other family members were injured, including the father C F Scott 30 the mother 25 and Phyllis 4 all in serious condition. The cause of the blaze was undetermined.

Des Moines Driver Questioned After Fatal Bicycle Crash
In Des Moines Mrs. Verne Strain, a Norwoodville teacher, was struck by a truck driven by Pete Lamberti and died six hours later at Mercy hospital. Lamberti was questioned at Polk county jail and released without charges. Burlington workers removed two more bodies from the TNT melt unit wreck at the Iowa ordnance plant, bringing identified dead to 19 with four missing.

Corning Man Dead. Wife In Critical Condition From Poisoning
Edward Harlow a 33 year old man was found dead in bed and his wife critically ill in Corning from suspected tomato poisoning. Dr J H Wallahan says they ate chili that had been left in the cooking pan and later consumed again. Coroner Boyd N Roland of Adams county announced no inquest will be held.
