Hospital care to go even higher

The American Hospital Association told the House Ways and Means Committee that hospital costs will rise 18.6 percent this year over 1966 and 30.2 percent over 1965. Average daily hospital expense is projected at 57.93 dollars per patient by September as nurses' salaries push costs up.

Accidental Shot Fatal To Davenport Man

Davenport Iowa police say 25 year old Richard Krause died after accidentally shooting himself in the stomach with a .22 caliber revolver he thought unloaded. Krause called a telephone operator for help from his mother s home and died at Davenport hospital shortly after.

Hughes defends Palmer as regent choice in Iowa

Gov Harold E Hughes defends Dr David G Palmer for the State Board of Regents amid opposition from the Iowa Medical Society. Iowa lawmaker proposes service area overhaul for counties

Des Moines IDPA State Representative Donald Baker Boone Democrat introduces a plan to reorganize county government by creating service areas.
