Charity horse show planned for June at fairgrounds

The sixth annual Charity Show is set for June 12 at Washington County Fairgrounds. Proceeds benefit the Washington County Developmental Center. Harold DeWolf and Chuck Hotle are co chairs with a planning committee including Wanda White Gale Whittacre Lynn Roth John Arbogast Barb Bartholomew Walt Farrell Duane Redlinger Connie Humston and Mrs DeWolf. The event aims to top last year’s nearly $2000 haul. Sponsors will be sought to boost funds and improve the show with 27 classes and a chance to win a Registered Quarter Horse.

Livestock Hedging Plan Discussion Sets Washington YMCA Meet

Farmers from the area and their wives will attend a livestock hedging discussion at the Washington YMCA Wednesday at 9 30 a m sponsored by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. About 10 meetings are planned in Iowa with registration at 9 a m. A panel of three locals Richard Wiley Cloyce Tinnes and Dr Duane Gipple will highlight the afternoon session. Washington Jazz Festival Winners Honored at Saturday Contest

Des Moines Roosevelt won the Class AA division at the Washington High School Jazz Festival. Loren Gunnison directed Class C Harmony, Doug Davis led Class B Cardinal, and Bruce Johnson headed Class A Platteville Wisconsin. Washington Junior High earned Outstanding Junior High Jazz Band for the second year. Scott Keating and John Pearson received individual honors.
