Mt. Pleasant defeated Washington 17 to 15 to reach the Fairfield tournament final. Ottumwa beat Fairfield 17 to 15 and will face Mt. Pleasant later. Washington led early 9 to 3 after the first period, but Mt. Pleasant rallied in the final quarter to win.

A. Gordon Bradt assistant secretary of the board of foreign missions spoke at the local church yesterday afternoon outlining the churchs overseas work in condensed form. Delegations from neighboring towns attended the mission conference before Bradt moved on to Fort Madison for another meeting as part of his extended church tour.

Police credited a feud among beer runners with a fatal early morning shooting. Frank Lawrence died after severe wounds. two companions fled. Police arrested two men tied to the Frank McFarlane beer gangsters while a second man named James Labell was shot on the northwest side and later disappeared.
The First United Presbyterian church hosted a concert by the congregation that netted 118.50 for the colored people's church. The inter church committee led by Cal D J Palmer John Shields and W J McCaulley organized the event in the large auditorium. Doctor Watts of Mt Pleasant directed and accompanied the performance featuring negro spirituals readings by Lucile Rhodes and Lucille Lewis a duet by Miss Lewis and Mrs J Jackson and other numbers. Reverend J Reade McCrory opened with brief remarks and Pr W W Bowers offered prayer.
The third lesson in the Y W C A Automobile Instruction Class will be taught by Mr. Gillespie of the Dodge Bros Sales and Service. The topic is clutch and transmission operation and care. The class meets Monday at 7 20 p m in the Y Women’s room.

At a Y M C A community room meeting the Chamber of Commerce elected Carl Hedges as president Fred Moore as vice president W A Anderson as treasurer and Glenn Mace as recording secretary for ten months or until the next regular annual meeting in January 1927 A constitution and bylaws committee was named Marsh W Bailey Charles Davis and George Breitenbach to draft the framework and incorporation will follow promptly to begin activities and assign further committees.
The Senate in executive session deferred action on Charlee W. Hunt of Iowa for reappointment to the Federal Trade Commission after a nearly two hour debate. Senator King led the opposition calling Hunt reactionary and lax on enforcement, while Chairman Cummins defended the nomination. A renewed effort was expected to seek action today with a likely confirmation upon a future vote.
Washington March 6 forecast calls for rain or snow in the upper Mississippi and lower Missouri valleys with two periods of precipitation. Funeral services for Mrs Green Squire were held yesterday afternoon at Jones and McElhinney funeral parlors. Dr W W Fowers of the Methodist church assisted by Rev John D Kern of the Baptist church conducted the service. The Methodist choir quartet provided music. Pallbearers included Lloyd Durst Harold Durst Ed Squire Charles Squire Everett Denison and Aon Brindley. Burial followed at Elm Grove.

A Brookhart bill calls for a 250 million dollar federal Farm Export and Cooperative Marketing Association. It would be governed by a three member board appointed by the Agriculture Secretary from farm groups and Grange. The plan allows buying surplus crops, financing with bonds, and distributing losses via a production cost based levy.

Samuel Evans and daughter Mrs Reese David of Crawfordsville visited Williamsburg by the death of Mr Evans a brother in law.
