A good turnout at the Statler sale last week saw a cow bring 204.50 and corn sell for 1.16 a bushel. The Busy Bee club served lunch and cleared 38.59. Twenty Eight Gilts Sold Near Columbus Junction
Twenty eight Spotted Poland China gilts sold at prices from 60 to 125 dollars at a February 26 bred sale. The sale was held at the Hershel M. Addieman farm four miles southeast of Columbus Junction. Power failure saves doomed man Cobb in Alabama
In Montgomery on March 4 Phillip Cobb, 24, faced execution for a second murder but the electric chair failed to deliver power at the last moment. Tests showed current was not reaching the electrodes, and Gov. Folsom ordered the death sentence delayed for one week. Cobb had sought clemency which was denied earlier. The delay shifts the date to March 17.
