Editorials Reflect on Faith Labor and Public Life
A Burlington Hawk-Eye Gazette editorial mixes religious sentiment with social commentary. It praises God given workmanship, critiques leisure as a national issue, comments on rabies publicity, and notes a Washington County lake project with Governor Beardsley’s involvement. It reflects on health, dental care, Neanderthal history, and civic renewal while mocking Communist schemes in postwar Europe.

Park Board Eyes Central and Sunset Improvements in Washington
Washington's park board seeks major upgrades for Central and Sunset parks including a new band shell in Central park and a pavilion plus modern shelter at Sunset park. Funds largely rely on donations and private gifts as tax revenue covers only maintenance. Ralph Smith's $10,000 bequest backs the band shell plan with later curb walks and a center fountain backed by public donations. Donors are urged to give now for best impact while living. The board members J. E. Lemmon Marian Bailey and Frank B Miller lead the effort.
