Russian labor leaders demand immediate concessions amid resumed Moscow strike and widespread discontent in the Caucasus. In St. Petersburg 50,000 workers have struck and leaders threaten a general walkout if demands for release of imprisoned workers and free speech are not met.
B S Finch of a Brooklyn coal firm underwent a major operation to remove two thirds of his tongue due to cancer. Doctors also removed affected throat muscles and mouth glands. despite the loss, he expects to speak intelligibly after practice. The procedure marks a second such surgery in recent months.
Former United States Senator Edward Wolcott of Colorado died at the Hotel de Paris Wednesday night. His brother and Dr. Guigliumetti were present. Arrangements are in Dr. Guigliumetti's hands. The body was sent to the United States last night.
