Gary L. Van Winkle of Washington is a patient in a military hospital in Vietnam after suffering wounds on January 10 while on guard duty. A Washburn High School graduate, he enlisted May 19 and has been in Vietnam over four months. He received shrapnel wounds to the arm and back and a lung puncture, underwent five operations at Vung Tau hospital, and is reported to be recovering.
