Eighth annual Epworth League Iowa Conference gathering held in West Liberty June 22 24 drew delegates from numerous chapters including Albin Ailsworth Bloomfield Conesville Patefield Port Madison and more with speakers on We Were We Are We Will Be and reports on leagues growth and church outreach plus music and devotional sessions.
You can get more meat at Stuart's for $1.00 than any place else for $1.25. The largest line of smoked meats in the city with line bacon from 7c to 10c per lb. Salt fish, mackerel, red salmon, white fish and yearling beeves advertised. Veal pork fresh fish poultry and vegetables on hand along with pickled meats and canned goods.
A crowd including Mrs Babcock and family Mr and Mrs Alex Miller Mrs Andy Smith Mrs John McCartney Ed Smith W N Hood and son Walter joined the Burlington journey to the Chautauqua Assembly. J W Starkie S BE Parker and Warren Moore also traveled on the excursion train. Miss Flo Stewart arrived from Chicago on the midnight train.

A camping party led by Mr and Mrs J A Harwood and Mr and Mrs Frank McKain plans to visit Montpelier on the Mississippi for a week or ten days. Attending include Misses Ross Secofield Anna Springer Kate Stichter Cornelia and Minnie Klass and Messrs Orville Elder and Ben Marshall.
On a regular Saturday meeting day the W. RR. C. ladies plan a supper in the W. ROC. Halls as part of a small Fourth of July celebration inviting husbands and children to attend.
Wilber Miller plans to place forty eight six foot benches in the park funded by advertising, costing the city nothing. He hopes to attract advertisers and add comfort and improved appearance to the park. Laren reports Miller is successful and the benches will appear soon. Also notes claims about catarrh and a cure by Hall's Catarrh Cure. The excursion party to California includes Misses Ella Brown Nellie Tripp Agnes and Mame Stewart Annie and Eliose Houdek Maggie Lackey John and Alice Combs and Prof. Clifford Thorn with Agent Stewart accompanying them to Colorado Springs.
Elwyn Latta went to St. Madison this morning in what authorities described as routine travel. No incidents were reported and Latta has not released a statement regarding the visit.
