Lead Theft Reported From Jones Cemetery Monuments
Council Bluffs police seek a new kind of thief who strips lead from between stones in cemeteries. Workers say the pure hard lead is valuable and wartime conditions make theft difficult. First reports came from Fairview Cemetery where graves were cracked and lead stolen from six stones. Repairs followed as more robberies occurred from the same graves.
