County 4-H Clubs Meet Here Today Rally at Washington County Hall

County 4-H clubs gather at city hall with about one hundred in attendance for Washington County 4-H rally day. Delegates from eleven clubs register at ten and hear talks by Mrs Dean Johnson of Brighon and County Agent Harold Montgomery on Farm Bureau work and club work respectively. Afternoon features talks by twelve delegates from Ames 411 club convention and a music memory contest by Mrs Harold Clegg. Des Moines Seeks Near Beer Shipment Seizure

Des Moines authorities seize a carload of so called near beer from Manitowoc Wis. as part of a police action led by John B Hammond. Timothy Colbert Buried at Riverside in Catholic Service

Funeral services for Timothy Colbert were held this morning in the Catholic Church at Riverside with burial in the adjacent cemetery. He died Sunday at his home near Riverside. He had many friends in Washington, having visited here often. His wife was Mary McKevitt, formerly of this community. William Botce is interning this summer at the University Hospital in Town City and will be a medical school senior next fall. Five-Hour Lady Mother's paper lists hours refined to 1 to 6 p.m. daily.

West Branch Delegation Visits Washington Rotary Meeting

A West Branch delegation attended a Rotary Club dinner at the country club in Washington, with Col C J Wilson and W B Anderson among the speakers. Washington June 24 UP two famed oil operators Harry Sinclair and Henry Mason Day began their imprisonment in the District of Columbia jail. New Haven Institute to Meet at Local Church

President Clyde V Brown of the Washington county Sunday school association announces a Sun1 institute to be held in the New Haven church west of town this afternoon. The meeting is part of a countywide series with district officers presiding. West Valley and Grace schools will participate as Sun school workers from across the county. The Coppack church overflowed last Sunday for a similar program and Lexington hosted a prior gathering.

Planes Over Washington Sighted During Tour

Art Donovan and R Kuypka report that several planes on a tour passed over Washington this morning. At least two were seen above town, one identified as Good News, the Des Moines Register's ship, and another a small bi-plane. Most pilots likely chose a shorter Ottumwa to Muscatine route, bypassing Washington.
