Diamond manufacturing requires pressures up to 2 500 000 psi and temperatures around 2 775 C for hours to create gemstones, but the largest gem produced weighs about one carat. Jewelry diamonds are uneconomical to make, yet industrial diamonds dominate a third of the market.
