Hultman backs liquor discounts for licensees

Lamb carcass show results announced in Southeast Iowa

Results from the 4 H F F A lamb carcass evaluation at the Southeast Iowa Quality Lamb Show in Columbus Junction were announced. Champion carcass went to Tom Utter with U S prime, fat .19 inches, loin eye 2.99 square inches. Second place to Kenneth Drum with U S choice, fat 23 inches and loin eye 2.17. Six carcasses were U S prime, eight choice, two good.

Khrushchev Says Russia Quits Building Battleships

Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, in Goteborg Sweden, states Russia has stopped constructing battleships and cruisers as nuclear weapons render such ships obsolete. He spoke at a high security ship launching ceremony during a Sweden tour on his third day there. Khrushchev said shipyards are freed from building large military ships in a nuclear war scenario. William M. Havel Dies at 76 After Illness

Lioness dies after recapture near Des Moines

Queenie a nine month old lioness, defanged and declawed, died after three days of chase by hunting dogs, farmers, deputies and cameramen along a rural road near Des Moines Iowa. The animal hissed as she was cornered and then dragged to the road where she died shortly after.

Vanishing Eclipse Seen Worldwide From Bali Ash Cloud
